Cybercodes.com / Gallery / Internet Mission Central
(Site life: 2/96-1/98; Internal site.)
Internet Mission Central was an internal Hewlett-Packard Company site which serves as a primary vehicle for the distribution of Internet-related information.
The site included white papers, presentations, technical articles, training, a calendar, success stories, and more high-level information which can be effectively disseminated via the Internet.
The site design for the main page and the navigational strip used throughout the site was provided by another agency.
My responsibilities and contributions:
Authored the Agent Training section of the site. This section includes a full-scale (50+ pages) introductory section, "The Basics," which walks users through basic web skills (navigation, using the browser, searching, email, frames, etc.). The second level, "UnderCover," contains information on more advanced technologies including languages, multimedia, shareware, and databases. Overviews of each topic and a set of links to relevant external information are provided. The third level, "In the Field," contains product information, downloadable demos, news, and other advanced links. A web history, "Net Blueprint," surveys the history of the Internet and the web, and the glossary, "Code Words," offers 50+ definitions for important Internet-related terminology. A Site map was also provided.
Creation of a color-coded marketing calendar for Internet-related events
Creation of graphics for secondary sections of the site. These graphics were all designed to continue the top level look and feel and IMC theme.
Implementation of JavaScript rollovers throughout the site to add the "hi-tech" look and feel to the circuitry and panel look.
Regular updating of links and buttons on the main page as new information or events were highlighted and others phased out.
Maintenance of a "Communiques" section of high-level Internet presentations. Included conversion of slide sets to HTML as well as maintenance of downloadable versions of those files.
Creation and implementation of JavaScript pull-down menus for the Arsenal and Background Check sections.
Creation and implementation for Cybernotes section.
Creation and implementation for Arsenal section.
Creation and implementation for Background Check.
Creation and implementation for Communiques.
Creation and implementation for Channel Internet Agents section.
Ongoing addition of material to the site, particularly white papers, press releases, presentations, calendar events, and new subsections.
All HTML coding, JavaScripting, and graphics for the sub-sections of the site.
When the site was moved external for Channel Partner access, I duplicated the site and then made the necessary modifications so that it could exist externally. Handled all server posting, testing, and maintenance of the content files.

attitude adjustment: the rules of the bazaar
HP's Mobile E-Services Bazaar has proven that an unusual and collaborative - maybe even bizarre - approach to defining, developing, and deploying e-services can and does work. Indeed, with its small global team, it is hard to believe the number of successes rolling out of the bazaar - and rolling they are. With a speed uncommon and unexpected in many large corporations, the Bazaar crafts and polishes e-services bundles culled from companies around the world - big and small.
