When the Code Counts

Cybercodes.com / Gallery / alt_women@pomo.lit

alt_women@pomo.lit (www.cybercodes.com/alt_women/) is the working ground for my electronic dissertation on women's postmodern literature and postmodern theory.

The dissertation is being conducted electroncially under the supervision of Martha Nell Smith at the University of Maryland.

The site design has gone through many versions as I worked to find the right balance of visual and textual which could maintain the long haul of a 1000+ page web site consisting mostly of hyperlinked text. The design is still in a temporary phase with a new look-and-feel ready to go live in the near future.

alt_women@pomo.lit The original design's bright pallette (lime and purple) was offset by the black margins and lends an emblematically wired postmodern feel to the site. Conversely, the text has been left in a highly readable navy which also allows easy printing. (Original design shown here.)

Textual pages have been broken into chunks to allow easier screen readability, and as the project continues, both CGI scripting and additional JavaScripting will be used throughout the site to link together information and provide search capabilities.

FEATURED ARTICLE
attitude adjustment: the rules of the bazaar
HP's Mobile E-Services Bazaar has proven that an unusual and collaborative - maybe even bizarre - approach to defining, developing, and deploying e-services can and does work. Indeed, with its small global team, it is hard to believe the number of successes rolling out of the bazaar - and rolling they are. With a speed uncommon and unexpected in many large corporations, the Bazaar crafts and polishes e-services bundles culled from companies around the world - big and small.
